How to sell on Telegram without a website: catalog, cart, and payments in the messenger
You don’t need to build a website before you start selling online. Your catalog, cart, checkout, delivery, and payment can all run in a Telegram bot. Here’s how to set it up and what to keep in mind.

What you need to sell through messaging apps
- Products — with photos, prices, and availability, so buyers can see what they’re purchasing.
- Answers — about delivery, payment, sizes, and returns, anytime.
- Checkout — cart, contact details, delivery, and payment without leaving the page.
- Talk to a person — for bargaining, complaints, and unusual questions.
You can bring it all together in one bot — no website or developer needed.
Step 1. Create your bot and connect it
In Telegram, open @BotFather, send the /newbot command, and choose a name and username (it must end in bot). BotFather will send you a token. In your LEO Chat dashboard, open “Channels & Integrations” → “Telegram” → “Connect” and paste it in. The webhook will be set up automatically, and the token will be stored encrypted. Send /start to your bot and check that it replies.
Step 2. Add your products
Without a website, there’s nothing for the scanner to scan, so you add products another way:
- Manually — select “+ Add product” in the catalog and enter its name, price, photo, description, and availability.
- CSV — upload a file or provide a link if you already manage products in a spreadsheet.
- OLX listings — if you sell on OLX, you can import listings from a connected account into the catalog.
- Prom.ua feed — if you have a store on the marketplace.
The customer types “catalog” or a product name, and the bot shows product cards with a photo, short description, price, and “Buy” button. It won’t suggest out-of-stock products.
Step 3. Train your bot to respond
Add your delivery, payment, exchange, and return terms to your knowledge base as short FAQ answers or PDF or DOCX documents. The bot answers using only your information. If it can’t find an answer, it won’t make one up—it’ll pass the question to a manager.
Step 4. Cart and checkout in chat
- “Buy” adds the product to the cart: you can change the quantity, add more, or clear the cart.
- After the customer taps “Checkout,” the bot asks for their name and phone number.
- Delivery: Nova Poshta with city and branch selected from a list, courier, or pickup.
- Payment: cash on delivery, card via LiqPay or monobank, or a QR invoice to your IBAN.
- The order appears in the account’s “Orders” section.
If you’re running a promotion, the buyer simply enters a promo code in chat—the bot checks its validity period and usage limit, then recalculates the total. For payment methods, see how to accept payments in chat; for delivery, visit the chatbot with Nova Poshta page.
Step 5. Bring customers back
- Broadcasts — share new arrivals and deals with people who’ve already messaged the bot, using audience segments.
- Cart reminder — if a buyer adds a product to their cart and disappears.
- Repeat sales — offer related products a few days after delivery.
Telegram doesn’t let bots message people first if they’ve never started the bot. So only people who have already chatted with it receive broadcasts and reminders. Promote your bot on social media, packaging, and in your ads.
How much does it cost
Telegram is available on the Free plan, with 10 AI replies per month to try it out. Catalog, cart, and branch selection buttons don’t use AI replies. For ongoing sales, most shops choose Start (990 ₴/month, Nova Poshta as a 290 ₴ add-on) or Business (2 490 ₴/month, Nova Poshta included). You can try all Business features free for the first 14 days. See all prices on the pricing page.
Try it with your store
14 days free with Business features, no card required. The bot will learn your website in just a few minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add a website later?
Yes. The same catalog and bot work in your website widget, which you can add with a single line of code. Products and customer history stay together in one dashboard.
Will the bot use my shop’s name?
Yes. You create the bot yourself in @BotFather, so you choose its name, username, and avatar.
What if a customer wants to speak to a person?
The bot hands the conversation to a manager, who sees the full history in the “Messages” window and picks up where the conversation left off.
