Chatbot for WooCommerce: connect it to your WordPress store
WooCommerce is one of the most popular platforms for online stores in Ukraine. Here’s how to connect an AI sales assistant that knows your catalog, and track how many orders it brings in.

What WooCommerce stores get
- Catalog with no manual work — products, discounted prices, availability, photos, and categories are pulled through the WooCommerce API and updated on a schedule.
- Website widget — the bot answers questions about products and delivery, and suggests product cards with a “Buy” button.
- Store orders in analytics — every 15 minutes, LEO Chat imports WooCommerce orders with their UTM data and matches them to chat customers by phone number or email.
- Product descriptions back in your store — a product description improved in LEO Chat (or the winner of an A/B test) is published to WooCommerce with one click.
Step 1. Create a REST API key
- In WordPress, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
- Click “Add key,” enter a description (for example, “LEO Chat”), and select an administrator account.
- Permissions — “Read/write” (write access is only needed to publish descriptions).
- Copy the Consumer key (ck_…) and Consumer secret (cs_…) — the secret is shown only once.
The WooCommerce API works over HTTPS, and WordPress permalinks must not be set to “Plain” (Settings → Permalinks). If your hosting strips the authorization header, LEO Chat will automatically switch to sending keys in the request.
Step 2. Connect your store in the dashboard
In your LEO Chat dashboard, go to “Channels & Integrations” → the “WooCommerce (API)” card, then enter your site address and both keys. LEO Chat will check access, import your catalog, and create a data source that updates automatically. The secret is stored encrypted.
If you previously connected your store using an XML/YML feed, products will switch to the API by SKU—with no duplicates.
Step 3. Add the widget to your website
Under “Channels,” connect the website widget and paste the code snippet before </body>—in WordPress, you can do this in your theme settings or with a plugin that adds code to the footer. You can test the bot on a demo page in your dashboard before adding it to your site.
Step 4. See which sales the bot brought in
WooCommerce orders appear in your dashboard with their source. If a customer first chats with the bot and then places an order on your website, LEO Chat links the order to the conversation by phone number or email. UTM data comes from WooCommerce’s built-in order attribution (version 8.5 and later). Learn more in our article on how to calculate chatbot sales.
What if your store runs on OpenCart?
OpenCart doesn’t have a built-in product API, so connect your catalog using a YML feed: install a YML export module (for Prom.ua or Rozetka) and add the feed URL to the LEO Chat Catalog. OpenCart orders won’t be imported into LEO Chat automatically.
Try it with your store
14 days free with Business features, no card required. The bot will learn your website in just a few minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate WordPress plugin?
No. LEO Chat gets your catalog and orders through the standard WooCommerce REST API, and the widget is a single line of code on your website.
Does LEO Chat change anything in my store?
Only when you choose: the product description is published to your store when you click “Publish.” The previous description is saved so you can restore it.
Are variable products imported too?
Yes, as a single product with the price shown in WooCommerce. Individual variations aren’t imported as catalog items.
