How to sell to customers in Poland, Germany, and other countries in their language
When a store ships products abroad, buyers message in Polish, German, and English. Hiring a manager for every language is expensive, and replying through a translator is slow. Here’s how a bot guides buyers through a purchase in their language while you work in Ukrainian.

What’s the challenge
International buyers have the same questions as Ukrainian buyers: availability, size, delivery, and payment. But they may not understand a reply in Ukrainian, or they’ll go somewhere they can get an answer in their own language. Copying every message into a translator and back works when you only get a few inquiries a week. When there are more, your manager can’t keep up.
How the bot chooses a language
LEO Chat detects the language from the buyer’s messages, not their phone’s interface, and uses it throughout the purchase. English, Polish, German, and Bulgarian are enabled by default. You can enable Romanian, Czech, Spanish, French, and Italian in settings. If a buyer writes in a language that isn’t on the list, the bot replies in Ukrainian.
Short messages like “yes,” a phone number, or a single word won’t switch the conversation language. In the website widget, before the first message, the bot uses your browser’s language.
What gets translated
- AI responses — the bot replies right away in the buyer’s language, using your Ukrainian knowledge base and catalog.
- Buttons and cart — “Buy”, “Checkout”, promo code, quantity, and total.
- Order placement — name, phone number, delivery, payment, and order card.
- Reminders and broadcasts — in each buyer’s language.
- Manager replies — the manager writes in Ukrainian, and the buyer gets a translation.
- Website widget — greeting, buttons, input field, and inquiry form.
Product and brand names stay as they appear in your catalog. Prices, totals, order numbers, and phone numbers aren’t changed: if a translation drops even one number, it won’t be sent.
How managers should work
A manager replies in Ukrainian in “Messages,” and the customer receives a translation in their language. The customer card shows the conversation language, and beneath each translated bot reply you can see the original Ukrainian, so the manager always knows exactly what the bot said. If the manager writes in the customer’s language, the message is sent as is.
What to prepare before selling abroad
The bot only answers using your data, so add the terms that apply specifically to international buyers to your knowledge base, in Ukrainian:
- whether you ship internationally and to which countries;
- how delivery works, how much it costs, and how long it takes;
- what currency are the prices in, and how can I pay;
- how exchanges and returns work for international orders.
If the knowledge base doesn’t include these terms, the bot won’t make them up—it will pass the question to a manager. The bot shows prices as listed in the catalog, without recalculating them.
Where international buyers will find you
Most often, on your website: the widget displays its interface in the visitor’s language. The Telegram bot works too. Viber and WhatsApp are currently available in beta.
How much does it cost
Multilingual support is included in every plan. Translation uses the same AI model as replies, so it counts toward your account’s AI usage. Each phrase is translated into a language once, then retrieved from memory. See details on the pricing page, and visit the multilingual chatbot page to see it in action.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need to translate your catalog and knowledge base?
No. Write everything in Ukrainian: your knowledge base, scenarios, welcome messages, and reminder texts. The bot translates them automatically.
Can I limit the languages or turn off translation?
Yes. In the AI settings, you can enable or disable specific languages, or turn the feature off completely—in which case the bot will reply only in Ukrainian.
How can I check how the bot replies to someone from another country?
Open the LEO Chat demo store and message the chat in English, Polish, German, or Bulgarian—the bot will reply in the same language.
